  1. Hungary had lost territories which are not Hungarian. Only at about 40% of the population of the so called Great Hungary were Hungarians.

Actually the inhabitants of these territories did not longer accept the Hungarian administration, perhaps the roughest in Europe.

So what kind of justice is claimed now?

  3. Even if an important part of the inhabitants of the Hungarian Kingdom were not ethnic Hungarians, many ethnic Hungarians were separated from their motherland in 1920 due to the change of borders that didn’t respect the ethnic borders.

As it’s hard to imagine that the borders could be changed today, « the kind of justice » which is claimed now is more political and economical autonomy for the ethnic hungarians living in Romania, Slovakia, Serbia and Ukraine ; their rights of using their mother language (a recent law in Slovakia forbiddes to use hungarian inside public buildings, even between two ethnic hungarians).

Benes decrees (that decided the deportation of ethnic germans and ethnic hungarians living in Czechoslovakia) should also be abrogated (they are still valid in Czech and Slovakian laws), according to many Hungarians.

  4. The Turkish domination ended in late 18th century. Why in 2 centuries of Hungarian domination of the ‘Carpathian Basin’ the Hungarians didn’t become an ethnic majority? Never the Hungarians were a majority because they were nothing more than invaders and occupants, even rough oppressors of the local compact populations.

If the minorities (actually the autochthones) in the historical Hungary were so happy, why they didn’t longer accepted the Hungarian rulership and fought to create their own independent states or to join the national existent states?

The Hungarians in Romania have by far more rights than the minorities in Hungary. They have schools of all grades in Hungarian languages, bilingual plates in public places even where they are just 20% of the inhabitants, probably even fewer. There is also a Hungarian ethnic party which is constantly part of the political governmental coalition. Is something similar in Hungary for at least one minority? I guess not, due to the strong national oppression in the past and present which reduced dramatically the amount of the minorities in Hungary.

I agree the frontiers couldn’t be exactly superimposed on the ethnic areas. This is due to the population mixing and even to the harsh assimilation policy, like in the so called ‘Szekely Land’ at the Carpathian Curvature.

I agree also it is totally unacceptable to forbid to speak Hungarian in a public place – if it is really so and not propaganda.

  5. Mille ans d’occupation!!!

  6. Yes, occupants but not at all naives since they considered the Romanians, the autochthones and the majority of the inhabitants of Transylvania, just tolerate, deprived by civic rights granted only to the Hungarians, Saxons and Szekelies.

However some Romanians managed to reach a high noble position on the cost of abandoning their religion, even their nationality. Sometimes they preserved their names like Mailat and Patrubany. In this respect, I appreciate you consider Hunyadi (Hunyadi Janos/Iancu de Hunedoara, Matthias Corvinus/Matei Corvin) of Romanian origin. The Hungarian history often denies this.

In the revolution of 1848/1849, Kossuth, a renegade Slovakian, granted to the Romanians of Transylvania only the justice of death by hanging. Consequently, beside these 13 martyrs, there were also other 40,000 Romanian martyrs.

Admin&All: sorry to write in English. Although I am fluent in spoken French, I am not skilled to write in French and I have not a French spell corrector on my computer. Thank you anyway.
